How to Fix Audio/Sound Issues in Windows 10?

Method 1: Check volume and cable connection

Prior to making any modifications in the software, all kinds of human errors should be eliminated. So, these are some of the things that you need to check to fix sound Issue in Windows 10.

  • Your headphones and speakers are connected with loose wires.

  • To fix Windows 10 no sound issues check that volume and power controls are high.

  • Check if your headphones are connected or not. Because if they are connected, then it means that speakers will not work.

  • Check that the volume controls on your apps are up and turned on.

Method 2: Don’t use any audio enhancements

The feature of audio enhancement improves the working of your sound card. But sometimes sound card hardwares don’t work properly when they are turned on. Follow the steps given below to turn it off:

  • To fix no sound in Windows 10 press R key and Windows key together a the same time. Type control and then finally hit the enter key.

  • Start looking at all the large items and then select sound.

  • Now go to the playback tab and right-click on the default device that you possess and then select properties.

  • Check whether the sound is back or not. If the sound is not back yet, then perform second and third step again.

Method 3: Check sound driver updates

You can also try driver update if the above-stated methods don’t work for you. In case you do not have the knowledge how to update the drivers manually, then you can try using driver easy for automatic update. These are some of the steps that you have to follow for conveniently updating the drivers.

  • Download the application of driver easy and then install it.

  • Start scanning by clicking on the button of Scan Now. Driver easy will scan the system and start detecting problems.

  • Now, go to the button of Update and click on it. Now, install and download the right version of this driver.

Method 4: Go to device manager to uninstall faulty drivers

In case, you have installed a faulty driver, then issues like No Sound in Windows 10 are unavoidable. These are the steps that you can follow to fix sound problems in Windows 10.

  • Press X and Windows key simultaneously. Now, select device manager.

  • Expand game, video, and sound controllers.

  • Select the sound card driver and then right click on it. Now, select uninstall.

  • Once the installation process gets completed, reboot your system. Now, Windows will begin reinstalling your driver.

Method 5: Use generic sound driver

If the above mentioned methods don’t fix sound problems in Windows 10, then you can try out using generic audio driver.  

  • First of all, press X and Windows key concurrently and then go to the device manager and click on it.

  • Expand game, video, and sound controllers.  

  • Now, select your sound card driver and right click on it. After that, update driver software.

  • After that, to fix audio Issues in Windows 10 go to the option of browse my computer for driver software. Now, select the drivers from the list of drivers on the system.

  • Then, select high definition audio device and go to Next. After that, click on Yes to continue forward.

  • Now, you will observe the generic audio driver, which is also known by the name of HD audio driver.
